According to the agreement with the National Dispatch Center of Georgia, the 500 kV power plant “Imereti” began to be repaired on March 23 of this year, and the repair works were in progress until March 28.
In the mentioned period, the works stipulated in the 2023 business plan of JSC GE “Sakrusenergo” were carried out at the “Imereti” site. Broken insulators and transformers, worn-out line armature, damaged wires in loops were replaced on the EGC. In the former “Imereti” N261-N262 mall, using heavy equipment, the works of restoring the disturbed gauge between the wires and the ground and repairing the temporary access roads to the masts were performed. Also, other works, the necessity of which was identified during the period of repair works.
During the limited period of repair of the 500 kV electric power plant “Imereti”, the personnel of Tbilisi SSU, Khashuri SSU and the transport service were mobilized on the site along with the personnel of Zestafoni and Tsalenjikh SSUs for the timely and efficient performance of repair works.
Andro Tskhadadze, the manager of the operation and construction of the Western Georgian railways, monitored and coordinated the repair works during the period of the railway station being under repair. Felix Janashia, the head of the labor safety service, and Demur Buadze, the deputy head of the labor safety service, supervised the safe performance of the personnel’s work. Guram Javshanashvili, deputy head of the transport service, ensured smooth operation of the mobilized transport at the site.
As a result of the performed works, the reliability of the so-called “Imereti” was significantly increased, which is very important for the sustainable functioning of the energy system in the conditions of the approaching spring floods.
As is known, the 500 kV power line “Imereti” is an internal system power transmission line and it takes an important part in ensuring the country’s electricity supply. It was commissioned in 1978 and connected Engurhesi and “Zestafoni-500” substations. The length of the power transmission line is 128 km and includes 388 masts.
