According to the agreement with the National Dispatch Center of Georgia, from April 26 to May 10, 2022, the 500 kV substation “Kartli-1” was under repair. Both repair and reconstruction works were carried out during the period of the EGK being under repair.
As part of the repair works, a high-level inspection of the power plant was performed, repair spiral clamps were installed on the damaged wires, broken insulators and rectifiers were replaced, bird’s nests were removed from the mast traverses, and the ground was cut using a bulldozer and excavator to increase the gauge. Temporary access roads to the towers have been restored. Deforestation works were carried out around the mast and in the bushes in order to clear the overgrown plants. Fixed other defects found during high-level inspection.
The repair work on 500 kV power plant “Kartli-1” was performed by the personnel of JSC “Sakrusenergo” Tbilisi operation-repair area and transport department. 500 kV substation “Kartli-1” was connected to the network on May 10 after repair and reconstruction.
While the 500 kV substation “Kartli-1” was under repair, within the framework of the construction project of the two-chain 330 kV substation “1,2 Gardabani”, in order to protect the vertical dimension of the two-chain 330 kV substation, the reconstruction works of the 500 kV substation “Kartli-1” were carried out in Portals. and between mast #3. The reconstruction works included the dismantling of towers #1 (type У2+5) and #2 (type У2) and installation of towers type У2+12 instead. After the completion of the reconstruction of the “Kartli-1” power station, between the N1-N2 towers of the “Kartli-1” power station, 330 kV power station “1.2” cables were also installed under the wires in Mal (between the N10-N11 towers in Mal). The reconstruction works of the “Kartli-1” substation were performed by the contractor JSC “Energon”, which within the framework of the 330 kV substation “1.2 conversion” project has already installed 69 masts out of 74 masts – (including the reconstruction masts of the intersecting power transmission lines) and 29 cables in Mali.
Completion of the construction of the two-circuit 330 kV power plant and connection to the network is expected by the middle of June of this year.
