Within the framework of the ten-year transmission network development plan approved by the Government of Georgia, in 2016 JSC “Sakrusenergo” implemented the connection of the section between the N110-N280 masts of the 500 kV power plant “Mukhran” to the “Marneuli-500” substation. The mentioned power transmission line, which connected the substations “Ksani-500” and “Marneuli-500” was given the dispatch name “Assureti”. The length of the new transmission line was 56 kilometers.
500 kV Egkh “Assureti” is transferred to the Didgori ridge in a difficult terrain and meteorological area, due to which there were frequent emergency shutdowns of the power transmission line, especially in winter and spring. Emergency shutdowns were caused by the closeness of the middle and end phase wires to the body of the mast during strong winds.
Based on the above, a decision was made regarding the reconstruction of intermediate Р2-type masts located in a difficult climatic area, namely: hanging the wires of the middle phase of the masts No. 260, No. 262 and No. 263 by performing V-shaped garlands and hanging loads on the opposite phases. The mentioned works were planned and implemented in 2018. At the mentioned time, the bent and deformed reinforced concrete pillars were straightened and replaced with metal pillars.
